So, what are the best hotels in Barcelona for couples and what makes them perfect for a city break weekender?
During our own Barcelona adventures as a couple, finding the best place to stay in the city is important to us because we like to take the time to enjoy the ambience of our hotel and hotel room, rather than simply dumping our bags and running out the door to explore the city as that often happens! With that being said, here is our top 10 list of the best luxury hotels in Barcelona for couples…
Table of Contents
1. Mandarin Oriental Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 5-Star ★★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 24 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: Eixample
We’ve stayed here! The magnificent Mandarin Oriental is located on Barcelona’s popular Passeig de Gràcia, just 5 minutes’ walk from Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (La Pedrera). A spa, rooftop pool & bar, indoor pool, fitness centre, beautiful city views and 24-hour room service are all available at the hotel if you are looking to kick back and relax in pure luxury.
The rooms are light and airy. A home theatre, comfy seating area, a large flat-screen TV, and a CD and DVD player are among the amenities you can find in the Mandarin Oriental’s rooms. There are spacious bathtubs or showers in the bathrooms, with complimentary Acqua di Parma amenities, bathrobes and slippers if you really want to relax and not think about the housework that needs doing back at home!
Moments restaurant, which serves modern Catalan cuisine, and Blanc restaurant, which serves all-day meals, are both located here. Carme Ruscalleda, the only woman to have seven Michelin stars, is the hotel’s head chef meaning you might want to take some time out of your day to stop by and enjoy some excellent cuisine. As we’ve stayed here as a couple, we can confidently say that the Mandarin Oriental was money well-spent and definitely one of the best hotels in Barcelona for a city break.

2. W Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 5-Star ★★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 26 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: La Barceloneta
If you are looking for somewhere a little outside of the city centre, the W Barcelona is a high-end 5-star hotel with a prime location on Barcelona’s “Barceloneta Beach”. The heart of the lively Barceloneta neighbourhood is a 10-minute walk away, but most visitors come for the beach — and the views. The W hotel features some of the best views in the city, extending from sea to city.
The rooms are big and ultra-hip, with modern conveniences such as flat-screen TV’s and high-end bath items. The spa and fitness facility, as well as two restaurants and several bars, are all ultra-modern, well designed and dare we say it?… boujee!

3. The One Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 5-Star ★★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 26 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: Eixample
The One Barcelona GL (Grand Luxury) is the place to be if you want to be right at the heart of the action. This 5-star hotel boasts a rooftop panoramic plunge pool and a sundeck with views of Barcelona. It’s only 100 metres from Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Milà (La Pedrera) and the Paseo de Gracia retail boulevard if you need of a spot of retail therapy on your couples trip.
Pillow top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens are featured in the bright and attractively designed rooms. Smart temperature management, a smart TV and a media centre with international plug outlets are available in every room. A rain shower, Natura Bissé Barcelona products, bathrobes and slippers are provided as part of the spacious marble bathroom set up.
Somni Restaurant – the hotel’s fine dining room – is available for breakfast and dinner. The hotel also features a seasonal bar, the Mood Bar, located on the rooftop terrace, where guests may enjoy traditional Spanish tapas as well as nibbles and cocktails all day. Our tip here is to head to Mood bar on your way out for the evening to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand. Bliss!

4. Hotel Condes de Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 4-Star ★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 24 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: Eixample
This trendy, modern hotel is located on one of Barcelona’s most recognised avenues (Passeig de Gràcia). The hotel is only steps away from some of the city’s most popular attractions. The 126 rooms at Hotel Condes feature subtle Scandinavian décor with big windows. Who knows? You might even get lucky and be allocated a room with a balcony.
There’s also a wonderful restaurant, a sultry rooftop lounge and a tranquil terrace. We certainly wouldn’t describe Hotel Condes as budget accommodation. However, it’s certainly one of the most cost-effective offerings in the trendy Eixample district. For us, this is the perfect eixample (see what we did there?) of a balance between cost-effective stay, modern design and trend-setting location.

5. Seventy Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 4-Star ★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 25 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: Eixample
Seventy Barcelona bills itself as more than a hotel. It’s rather a home in the heart of one of the world’s most beloved cities. The hotel’s vibe is created as a tribute to Mediterranean friendliness, nestled between the exquisite Passeig de Gràcia and the ageless charm of Gràcia’s neighbourhood. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that combines a guest house’s quality and hospitality with a luxury hotel’s services and amenities.
With a typical cosmopolitan and avant-garde spirit, bright aesthetics, warm customer service, attention to detail, superb food and stylish décor, Seventy would be a great place to stay in Barcelona if you are spending time with another couple and wanted to spend more of your time in a vibrant atmosphere.

This impressive hotel will be the first skyscraper you see on leaving the airport. This is the hotel to consider if you are looking to spend some time away from it all and take advantage of all of the facilities available here including a fabulous indoor and bar area. 10. Hotel Miramar Barcelona
Hotel Rating: 5-Star ★★★★★
Distance from Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) Airport: 15 minutes by car or taxi
Neighbourhood / District: El Poble-sec
The Hotel Miramar really is a sight to behold. Visiting this hotel is like a trip into the past (in a good way!). A 1920’s Art Deco style building on a hilltop fit for the Great Gatsby. Many attractions are located very close by, including the stunning Montjuïc Castle, a cable car ride, the Miró museum, and botanical gardens. The hotel stands in the middle of it all, looking out over the city giving us breathtaking views as the sun sets over Barcelona. A more unusual hotel for sure, but worth considering if your itinerary draws you into this part of the city.
